I suppose should probably start this post off with some back story and information before I get to the main subject.

Recently The McDonalds I work at has been rebuilt across the street. The old store ( built in 1969 and celebrated its 40th birthday last year ) has been closed up, all of the essential things we needed taken out and moved to the new store.

As long as I've known they've been talking about getting a new store ( at least for the past 7 years according to some of my co-workers and probably longer then that since the majority of our equipment was from the late 80's) And for whatever reasons they didn't get around to it until now and considering how long they were talking about it they never really bothered to update our major equiptment ( registers, headphones,grills, ventalation ) and almost everything was broken or not working right, hell we even still had a basement ( with huge holes in the cealing lol). Even though the stores locked up and the outside signs have all been taken down all of the old equipment is still inside.

Our store always had a particular "feel" to it. sort of chaotic but warm and fun and welcoming. Most new McDonalds don't feel like that. They feel cold and uninviting ( I probably dosen't help that they look like some snobby cafe half the time ) Or new store however feels exactly like the old one, that same friendly inviting feeling. It was suggested that it may be the people but half of the people I started working with no longer work there and there's so many new people now that I don't know.

I believe that when the new store was finally finished that the Domovoi of the old store transfered there.

Domovoi, in Russian folklore ( Brownies in celtic Lore ) are the spirits that reside within buildings ( usually a family's home ) and protect the people that live/wok there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domovoi In the wiki article it says that it has been noted that a Domovoi will follow a family if they move to a new house ( or the family will give them something to come with them ) and while we may not be Family in the typical sense all of us who work there have put so much time and effort into that place over the years, we all have memories there and so I believe our Domovoi followed us to the new store.

However, today as I stood by the now shutdown store I noticed that it still felt somehow 'alive', like its spirit still resided there.

As I walked home I theorized that this is because of all the energy that has gone into that store in the past 41 years. All the time and effort and headaches and laughter. Everyone who has passed through that store has left their imprint and the building has stored that energy away in its walls. So while the Domovoi may have moved on with us and is getting an equally fresh start the old building still retains a sort of life. Which is why the energy at the new store feels more calm and less chaotic then the old store. The newer building only has a few months worth of energy put into it, that can't stand up to 40 years.

So much time has gone into the old store. Former co-workers, that have quit gotten fired ( my boyfriend included) are still there all the time. ( or were ) still sitting at the same table. I myself wouldn't be in the situation I am today if I hadn't gotten a job there ( my friends , my boyfriend nothing would be the same, such drastic change from just a simple fast food job ) and its things like this that have given the old store a life past the spirit that resided in it. In short I suppose I'm going to miss the old store lol.

I'm wanting to print some books using them, but I want to know how their reproduction quality of images is. I want to add illustrations in black and white, but don't know if they can print gradation well, or if images turn out fuzzy at all!

Anyone know?
